Pet Transport from the USA to the UK via Europe

Fly with your pet from the United States to a suitable European airport, then travel together by private road transfer through LeShuttle to your UK address.

Traveller with a dog and cat carrier meeting a private driver at a European airport

EuroPaw Travel provides the European road section of a USA to UK journey with a dog or cat. You fly with your pet from the United States to a suitable airport in continental Europe, complete the required arrival checks, then meet us for a private transfer to your UK address through LeShuttle.

You remain with your pet in the vehicle for the road journey and Channel crossing. We collect from airports including Paris Charles de Gaulle, Amsterdam Schiphol and Brussels Airport, then travel to the confirmed address in England, Scotland or Wales.

Reviewed 19 October 2026. Pet import rules and airline policies can change. Check the current official guidance before booking flights or veterinary appointments.

What EuroPaw Travel handles

Our service begins after you and your pet have completed the arrival process at the European airport. The booking can include:

  • a private airport pickup at the confirmed terminal and meeting point;
  • space for the agreed passengers, pets, carriers and luggage;
  • the road journey from the arrival airport to Calais;
  • the approved LeShuttle route from Calais Coquelles to Folkestone;
  • onward transport to the confirmed UK destination;
  • practical stops planned around the route and the needs agreed before travel.

EuroPaw Travel does not operate the transatlantic flight, issue veterinary documents or act as an airline cargo agent. Flight acceptance, check-in, animal handling and arrival formalities remain the responsibility of the traveller, airline and relevant authorities.

Why some travellers enter Europe before continuing to the UK

Great Britain restricts the routes and carriers that can bring pets into the country. A traveller may decide to fly to an EU airport where their airline accepts their pet, then continue by road on an approved UK entry route.

This can also let the passenger and pet travel together for the overland part of the journey. It does not remove any legal step. The pet must first meet the EU entry rules at the airport of arrival and must then meet the separate Great Britain rules before crossing from France to the UK.

The correct airport depends on your flight, the airline's current pet policy, the animal's travel arrangement and the documents prepared for both borders. Do not buy a non-refundable ticket solely because an airport appears on this page.

Choose a European arrival airport

Paris Charles de Gaulle

Paris CDG is the most direct of the three listed airports for the road journey towards Calais. Read the USA to UK with a pet via Paris CDG guide for the handover sequence, documents and practical planning points.

EuroPaw also has an established CDG to London private pet taxi page for the ground service itself.

Amsterdam Schiphol

Schiphol can suit travellers whose airline and pet arrangement allow entry through the Netherlands. The onward road journey passes through continental Europe before reaching the Channel crossing. Use the USA to UK with a pet via Amsterdam Schiphol guide to plan the two-border journey.

The existing Schiphol to UK pet taxi page explains the private road transfer after collection.

Brussels Airport

Brussels Airport offers another EU arrival option with onward road access towards France and LeShuttle. Read the USA to UK with a pet via Brussels Airport guide before choosing the flight.

For the commercial road service, see Brussels Airport to London pet transport.

The journey in six stages

1. Check the complete itinerary before booking

Confirm that your airline accepts the pet on the selected flight and that your intended arrival airport can process your type of pet movement. Check the current USDA APHIS instructions for the EU country where the flight lands.

2. Prepare documents for both borders

A pet entering the EU from the United States normally needs EU-compliant identification, rabies evidence and an endorsed EU animal health certificate. Continuing into Great Britain is a separate border movement with its own accepted documents and, for most dogs, timed tapeworm treatment.

Do not assume that paperwork prepared only for EU arrival is automatically enough for Great Britain. Our USA to UK pet travel documents guide explains the distinction and links to the official sources.

3. Fly from the United States to continental Europe

Airline rules for cabin, hold and cargo travel differ and can change. Ask the airline to confirm the pet booking in writing and keep that confirmation with the travel documents. Our guide to flying from the USA to Europe with a dog or cat covers the practical preparation without replacing the carrier's policy.

4. Complete EU entry checks

At the first EU arrival point, contact or follow the directions of the competent authority for the required document and identity checks. Collect the animal, luggage and original paperwork before going to the agreed meeting point.

5. Meet the EuroPaw driver

We plan collection against the confirmed flight and terminal details. The passenger remains responsible for keeping us updated about material delays, changes to the animal collection process or a different terminal exit.

6. Travel by road and enter Great Britain

The private vehicle continues towards Calais. Pet documents are checked before the approved LeShuttle crossing to Folkestone. After arrival in the UK, the journey continues to the address agreed in the booking.

Documents need to work as one itinerary

For a typical non-commercial journey with no change of ownership, preparation may involve:

  • a compatible microchip fitted or read before the rabies vaccination used for travel;
  • a valid rabies vaccination and the applicable waiting period;
  • an EU animal health certificate for entry from the United States, issued and endorsed through the official US process;
  • the non-commercial declaration that accompanies the EU certificate;
  • a Great Britain pet health certificate or another document accepted by GOV.UK for the specific UK entry;
  • vet-administered tapeworm treatment for a dog within the required UK entry window, unless an exemption applies;
  • written owner authorisation if an authorised person travels with the pet.

The exact document set depends on the itinerary and whether the owner travels with the animal. Ask a USDA-accredited veterinarian to review the complete USA to EU to UK route, not only the first flight sector.

A private passenger-and-pet transfer

The standard EuroPaw service is designed for passengers travelling with their own dog or cat. It is not advertised as an unaccompanied transatlantic pet-shipping service.

Tell us before quoting if the owner will not travel, if ownership will change, if the animal is being sold or rehomed, or if more than five pets are involved. Those circumstances can change the legal category of the movement and may require a different process.

What affects the quote

The private road-transfer quote depends on:

  • the European arrival airport and terminal;
  • the confirmed UK destination;
  • the travel date and expected collection time;
  • the number of passengers and pets;
  • the size and type of carriers;
  • the number and size of luggage items;
  • the vehicle and space required;
  • any planned rest or overnight arrangement for a longer route.

The transatlantic flight, airline pet charges, veterinary work and official document fees are not part of our road service. The final written quote should identify what is included before you book. See the EuroPaw pricing guide for the site's current pricing approach.

Frequently asked questions

Does EuroPaw fly pets from the USA to the UK?

No. EuroPaw provides the private road transfer after the passenger and pet arrive at a suitable European airport. The traveller books and manages the transatlantic flight directly with the airline or their chosen flight specialist.

Can I travel in the vehicle with my dog or cat?

Yes. The standard service is for passengers travelling with their pet in the private vehicle from the European collection point to the UK destination.

Which airport should I use?

Paris CDG, Amsterdam Schiphol and Brussels Airport are the arrival points covered by this cluster. The right choice depends first on confirmed airline acceptance and legal entry arrangements, then on the road route and destination.

Is an EU health certificate enough to continue into Great Britain?

Do not assume it is. GOV.UK lists the documents accepted for entry to Great Britain, while the EU has a separate certificate for arrival from the United States. Ask a USDA-accredited veterinarian to prepare the paperwork for the complete itinerary.

Does my dog need tapeworm treatment?

Most dogs entering Great Britain from continental Europe need vet-administered treatment no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours before UK entry. Check the current GOV.UK rule and plan the appointment against the expected border time.

Can you collect after a delayed flight?

We plan around the confirmed flight, but the response to a delay depends on its length, driver hours, crossing availability and the onward route. Contact us as soon as the airline changes the schedule.

Can I book before my veterinary documents are ready?

You can discuss the route in advance, but do not leave the document plan until the final days. Veterinary preparation and official endorsement have timing requirements, and an incomplete document can prevent travel.
