EuroPaw Travel provides private pet taxi and pet transport from UK addresses to destinations across Spain. We collect you and your dog or cat from the agreed address, travel through LeShuttle from Folkestone to Calais, then continue by road through France to Spain. You remain in the vehicle with your pet.
The route can be planned for Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Alicante, Malaga, the Costa del Sol or another confirmed Spanish destination. Send both addresses when requesting a quote, because a journey to northern Spain is not the same as a journey to the Mediterranean coast or southern Spain.

A private UK to Spain pet transport service
This is an owner-accompanied passenger-and-pet journey, not a shared pet shuttle or unaccompanied animal shipment. The vehicle is used for the confirmed booking, and the journey is planned around the people, pets and luggage declared in advance.
Tell us if you are travelling with more than one pet, a large carrier, mobility equipment or substantial luggage. These details affect the space and vehicle needed for a long road journey.
For the wider service area, see pet taxi and pet transport from the UK to Europe.
The road route from the UK to Spain
The journey starts at the agreed UK pickup address and heads to Folkestone. You and your pet cross to Calais with LeShuttle, then travel south through France before entering Spain.
The route after Calais depends on the destination. Journeys towards Barcelona and the north-east follow a different corridor from routes towards Madrid, Valencia, Alicante or the Costa del Sol. Traffic, the exact addresses, the crossing time and planned rest arrangements all affect the schedule.
We do not publish one fixed journey duration for every UK to Spain pet taxi booking. A responsible plan is based on the actual route and includes suitable breaks. Very long journeys may require an agreed overnight arrangement. That should be discussed before the booking is confirmed.
Taking a dog or cat from the UK to Spain
Dogs and cats travel differently, so preparation should match the animal rather than the country name alone.
A dog may need planned walking and water breaks at suitable places. A cat should travel in a secure carrier with familiar bedding and enough room for the planned journey. Bring food, water, medication and cleaning supplies in accessible luggage. Do not pack essential pet items where they cannot be reached during the drive.
If your pet has a medical condition, is very young, elderly or anxious in vehicles, speak to your vet before committing to a long road journey. EuroPaw Travel can plan transport details, but only your vet can advise on your pet's fitness and medical needs.
Pet documents for entering the EU through France
Spain is the final destination, but Calais is the first EU entry point on this route. The pet travel document must be valid when you enter the EU in France.
For a standard non-commercial journey from Great Britain, a dog, cat or ferret normally needs:
- a microchip;
- a valid rabies vaccination recorded against that microchip;
- an Animal Health Certificate issued by an official veterinarian;
- the required owner declaration and supporting records.
The Animal Health Certificate is normally valid for entry into the EU for 10 days from issue. Current GOV.UK guidance says it can then support onward travel within the EU for up to six months, provided the rabies vaccination remains valid. Read the UK to Europe pet travel documents guide and verify the current rules with GOV.UK and the relevant Spanish authority before travel.
If a person authorised by the owner travels with the pet, additional declaration and timing rules apply. Explain who will travel when asking for a quote.
Planning the return journey to Great Britain
The outbound Animal Health Certificate may be usable for re-entry to Great Britain during its validity, subject to the current rules and valid rabies cover. Dogs returning from Spain also normally need tapeworm treatment administered and recorded by a vet no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours before entry to Great Britain.
Arrange the return requirement around the expected arrival time, not simply the time you leave Spain. See our dog tapeworm treatment guide and confirm the current rule before travel.
What the quote needs to include
A useful quote needs the UK pickup address, Spanish destination, travel date, passenger count, pet information and luggage. The length of the route, vehicle requirement and any agreed rest or overnight plan also matter.
The current EuroPaw pricing model lists the LeShuttle ticket separately from the road-service price. The final quote should explain the included road journey and any separately charged travel cost. Review the pet taxi pricing guide and ask if any part of the quote is unclear.

Frequently asked questions
Can you collect us anywhere in the UK for a journey to Spain?
A quote can be prepared for any confirmed UK pickup address. The full address is needed to calculate the road distance to Folkestone and the complete onward route to Spain.
Can I travel with my dog or cat?
Yes. The EuroPaw service is designed for passengers travelling in the vehicle with their dog or cat. It is not presented as an unaccompanied pet shipping service.
Do you cover southern Spain and the Spanish coast?
We can review routes to destinations across Spain, including Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante, Malaga and the Costa del Sol. The exact route and schedule depend on the confirmed address.
Is there one fixed journey time from the UK to Spain?
No. The time depends on the UK collection point, Spanish destination, crossing, traffic and agreed rest or overnight plan. The journey should be planned from the real addresses rather than a generic country estimate.
Which country checks the pet documents first?
For a LeShuttle route from Folkestone to Calais, France is the first EU country entered. Your pet's documents must be valid for that entry before you continue by road to Spain.
Does a dog need tapeworm treatment before travelling to Spain?
The standard treatment discussed on the EuroPaw site applies to dogs entering or returning to Great Britain from most countries. Check both the outbound destination rules and the return-to-GB timing with the official authorities and your vet.
