Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions

Do different pet travel rules apply from Switzerland to the UK?

Switzerland is not an EU member state, but it participates in the PETS (Pet Travel Scheme) and similar frameworks. In practice, the core requirements for dogs and cats entering the UK from Switzerland are the same as from EU countries: ISO microchip, current rabies vaccination, and an Animal Health Certificate. Dogs also need tapeworm treatment 24–120 hours before the UK border. Always confirm current rules with your vet or the APHA before travel, as requirements can change.

Can you collect from Geneva Airport as well as the city?

Yes. We collect from Geneva Airport (GVA / Genève-Cointrin) as well as from homes, hotels and other pickup points in Geneva city, Carouge, Lancy, Meyrin and the wider canton. If you are arriving by air with a pet from outside Europe, give us your flight number so we can coordinate timing with your landing.

How long does Geneva to London take with a dog or cat?

Geneva to Calais is approximately 700 km via the A40 through the Jura mountains and A36/A26 through eastern France. The drive to the Eurotunnel terminal at Coquelles takes approximately 5.5–7 hours depending on traffic, particularly around Lyon on the A6 or Besançon on the A36 route. Adding the 35-minute Eurotunnel crossing, Geneva to London typically takes 8–10 hours total.

Can cats travel from Geneva to the UK?

Yes. Passengers can travel with cats from Geneva to London and any other UK destination. Cats do not normally require tapeworm treatment for UK entry. They need a microchip, current rabies vaccination and an AHC issued within 10 days of travel. A secure, ventilated carrier is recommended for the duration of the journey.

Can you collect from Lausanne, Montreux or Vevey near Geneva?

Yes. Lausanne, Montreux, Vevey and other towns along Lake Geneva are within collection range. These are about 60–80 km from Geneva city and can be accommodated by quote. Please mention your exact pickup town when you get in touch.

Do I need to notify any Swiss authority before leaving with my pet?

We recommend checking with your Swiss vet and the relevant Swiss border authorities about any export notification requirements. The UK requirements are the AHC, microchip, rabies vaccination and tapeworm (for dogs). Passengers are responsible for all documents - we can provide general guidance but do not check or validate documentation.
