LeShuttle Pet Check-in and Terminal Guide
A simple guide to LeShuttle’s pet check-in at Calais and Folkestone: when to arrive, where to go, what to bring and where pets can exercise.
When to check in
LeShuttle currently asks customers to check in their pet at Pet Reception at least 1 hour and no more than 4 hours before the booked departure. Allow time for your route, traffic and the terminal process, but follow the time window shown in the operator’s latest guidance.
Pet Reception facilities at both Folkestone and Calais are listed as available for 24-hour pet check-in.
Where to go and whether your pet must leave the vehicle
- Calais: follow the Pet Reception signs. LeShuttle describes the reception as drive-through, so pet check-in can be completed without leaving your vehicle.
- Folkestone: follow the signs to Pet Reception at the entrance to the Passenger Terminal Building. LeShuttle says pets must be brought inside for their check-in process.
What to have ready
Bring your booking confirmation number and the relevant original pet travel documents. LeShuttle says this helps the check-in process. If travelling from Folkestone to Calais, bring the Pet Reception hanger issued at check-in.
Have your pet ready for the operator’s check and keep them safely restrained as instructed by staff.
Exercise areas and onboard
LeShuttle lists designated pet exercise areas on both terminals; follow the signs when you arrive. During the crossing, pets stay with you in your vehicle. The operator lists the crossing as approximately 35 minutes.
Keep your pet supervised and secure, and follow staff directions before boarding and after arrival.
Official operator information
Check the current operator instructions before leaving for the terminal, especially if your pet needs assistance, has special handling needs or your booking has changed.
